Offense is the thing that this program needs. Defense is for loser in college football right now. Look at the final scores at many of these games. We need an offensive guy that can bring in a passing system, a perfect fit for our Dome stadium. I would love Frost, Riley or any other young offensive mind.

Need a spot for a coach that wins, that's all I really want :noidea:

Why not hire Mike Leach? His crappy 20-29 record at WSU could be ours.

Imagine all the great athletes that will want to play in his high octane offense. After all, "defense is for losers".

It is much more important to hire a head coach with an understanding of and interest in both sides of the ball. If you don't have that, the coach is very vulnerable. Shafer's hiring of McDonald, for example, not only committed him to an offense he didn't believe in and didn't have the personnel to run it also distorted recruiting priorities and was a major contributor to Shafer's firing.

If we want to hire an offensive guy, I know this guy named Steve who likes to grab his crotch in public and shout racial slurs at passing strangers.

Too bad Sam Kinnison is dead, he'd be perfect.
We probably can't afford Louis CK or Dave Chappelle.

Daniel Tosh is a young, up-and-comer - let's get him!

Man, I miss Sam Kinnison.

This is the best reason I've seen as to why it even matters whether the coach is OC vs DC, that being said I'm not sure I agree at all that McDonald was the reason. I feel the reasons for Shafer's demise had alot to do with mismanagment during games. The timeout fiasco, the Dungey fiasco, FGs on 4th and goal from the 1, bench penalties in back to back weeks, etc. Shafer did some real boneheaded things during games and I feel that had as much to do as anything with the decision. The lack of road wins, wins vs top 25, etc was also very concerning. Shafer was looking like he needed a slim shady type schedule to look successful, something SU fans will not tolerate apparently.

I just want to add that it really doesn't matter what your background is as HC, you just need to hire the right people. See Paul Pasqualoni as reference. Great with Kevin Rogers, not so much under George as OC.
