it particularly bothers me that some schools are classed as "bluebloods" and seem to always benefit from reffing (duke, for example)...and that SU is not one of those schools for whatever reason despite being one of the most popular and winningest programs in ncaabb history. i mean, take that cj fair block that boeheim famously ripped his jacket off over - total hrsht. it wasnt just the call. it was the context of how the game had been called to that point as well.

i;d love to understand why some teams are so shielded and protected ...i honestly just dont get it.

on the surface, i would assume the more popular a team is the more likely they would be to get favorable reffing  - bc that would maximize total fan interest - but SU is one of the most popular and doesnt get that treatment at all

i dont doubt it at all - i remember being pissed watching that game - but think of the implications of what youre saying - ncaa makes it clear to officials what they want to happen and officials get it done. i think this kinda thing is far from a one off - i think its standard operating procedure, sadly.
