And then there were four.

Four teams in the Inside Lacrosse Men’s Division I Media Poll remain unbeaten in Week 3.

They are No. 1 Virginia (3-0), No. 2 Notre Dame (3-0), No. 3 Cornell (2-0) and No. 12 Saint Joseph’s (3-0).

The Cavaliers and Irish picked up particularly impressive wins over the weekend. The Cavalier defense — and the scoring prowess of Payton Cormier — easily dispatched Ohio State in a Top 10 game at the Southwest Florida Shootout in Naples, Fla.

Notre Dame traveled east and nearly doubled up Georgetown.

Cornell put the clamps on Lehigh's offense, and Saint Joseph’s earned a 19-6 win against Providence in what was essentially a perfect game for face-off specialist Zach Cole.

Newcomers to the poll include:

Penn State at No. 17 after toppling Yale
Villanova (which beat Penn State but lost to Yale), at No. 18 after taking down formerly Top 10 Delaware
Duke was the biggest riser in the poll, going up from No. 14 to No. 6 after beating Penn. Rutgers moved up five spots after beating Loyola.

Inside Lacrosse Media Poll Top 5 — Week 3

1. Virginia
2. Notre Dame
3. Cornell
4. Maryland
5. Princeton

20. Syracuse

18) Syracuse
Otto’s extra-man unit is worth the price of admission. We are witnessing creative and eye-opening passing and movement patterns. Love the innovation from this six man unit. That being said, Syracuse has a long way to go before they are a Top 10 and playoff caliber team. The faceoff unit is below par for the ACC and the defense lacks ACC level cover-men. In fact, I’m not sure Syracuse has a single defender who could start anywhere in the ACC right now. That’s putting extreme pressure on goalie Will Mark, who showed signs of shell shock on Saturday in a loss against UNC at home. Syracuse plays Duke this Sunday.

I have to admit that I laughed at UNC being 12 last week. Think this is pretty accurate. Just think UNC should be ahead of Rutgers.. just my opinion

I'm surprised we held onto #20.

After we lose to Duke we may go back up to #19. ;)

I guess you could say the teams on the outside looking in have similar resumes to us, but come on, just kick us out. We have to prove we belong.

Rutgers win over Loyola looks pretty good at this point.

I guess we already have one of those triangles:
Penn State beat Yale(H) 13 - 11
Villanova (H) beat Penn State 14-12
Yale beat Villanova(H) 20-14
I believe that I would order the 3 teams
Yale > PSU > Villanova at the moment.

agree with both points. EMO is special. Offense not bad. Defense needs help.
