Cascade/Maverik Media Poll: Notre Dame No. 1, With Yale On Its Heels
Notre Dame remains the No. 1 team in the country in the latest Cascade/Maverik Media Poll.
The Irish came back to beat Duke with a strong team defensive effort.
It’s close, though, with Yale (No. 1 two weeks ago), just three points behind.
A huge, top five Ivy League matchup is on the slate that will definitively decide — for now at least — who is the No. 1 in the Ivy League, as Brown hosts Yale on Saturday.
Yale (10-0) is currently No. 2 and is the only undefeated team. The Bulldogs are followed by Denver, which topped Villanova in the snow on Saturday, and then Brown at No. 4. The Bears lost midweek to Bryant but followed with a dominant bounce-back performance against Penn.
Much of the Top 10 remains unchanged besides the slight difference at the top. In the back half, Army enters the Top 20, meaning the huge rivalry game against Navy will be a Top 20 matchup as well as a key step toward hosting the Patriot League Tournament.
Virginia is out of the Top 20 after a one-sided loss to North Carolina.
1 Notre Dame (8-1) 551 (17)
2 Yale (10-0) 548 (10)
3 Denver (9-1) 528 (2)
4 Brown (9-1) 483 (0)
5 Maryland (8-2) 473 (0)
6 Towson (10-1) 431 (0)
7 Albany (8-2) 405 (0)
8 Stony Brook (9-2) 353 (0)
9 Syracuse (6-3) 327 (0)
10 Navy (8-2) 318 (0)
