Though the gap has narrowed, Maryland is still the top team in the land after its dramatic win against Johns Hopkins in The Rivalry. See the full Top 20 of the Inside Lacrosse Men's Division I Media Poll here.
The Terps’ 2021 so far has been special, clinching an undefeated regular season for the first time since 1987, earning the top spot in the Big Ten Tournament, and beating rival Johns Hopkins twice.
Preseason No. 1 Duke has plenty of first-place votes after avenging its loss against Notre Dame but falls just behind the Terps, followed by North Carolina, the Irish, and Lehigh to make up the top five.
With Syracuse up to No. 8, all of the ACC teams are back in the Top 10.
Big movers and shakers this week include:
— Navy shooting up to No. 12 after upending Army to win this year’s Star game
— Villanova up two spots to No. 16 after easily dispatching another Big East opponent
— UMBC from unranked to No. 18 after another OT win
— Saint Joseph’s entering the poll for the first time this year
1. Maryland (14)
2. Duke (7)
3. North Carolina (1)
