Cascade/Maverik Media Poll: Top 3 All Win, But Rankings Shift

Notre Dame made a statement, trouncing Syracuse in the Carrier Dome. That statement put the Irish back in the No. 1 spot in the Week 8 Cascade/Maverik Media Poll. The Irish were last No. 1 in Week 4.

Notre Dame takes the top ranking, but there are still four teams earning first-place votes; all four won their games this weekend.

The voters dropped Yale from the No. 1 spot after one week as the leader, after the Bulldogs narrowly beat Penn on Saturday. It was Yale's second-straight one-goal win. Brown, in turn, dominated Princeton and went up a spot to No. 2.

Denver and Maryland stick to No. 4 and 5, and then there are many changes after that:

• Towson is up to No. 6 after beating Drexel in CAA play.
• Stony Brook moves up four spots to No. 8; Navy also moves into the Top 10
• Syracuse falls to No. 9 from No. 7
• Villanova fell hard: The Wildcats were No. 6, but after two big losses dropped to No. 18
• Three teams enter the Top 20: Marquette (17), Rutgers (19) and Virginia (20),

USILA/Nike DI Coaches' Poll: Yale Remains No. 1

The USILA/Nike Division I Coaches' Poll has been released for Week 8.

The coaches' votes shake out differently than the media poll. Yale remains the top team in the poll, while the media poll dropped the Bulldogs after a close win. The coaches' votes held server, with the top four teams keeping their ranking from a week ago.

Rutgers, Marquette and Virginia also enter the Top 20 of the coaches' poll.
