Cascade/Maverik Media Poll: Steady Ahead of Conference Tournaments

The Cascade/Maverik Media Poll for Week 12 has been released.

After many weeks of vast changes throughout the Media Poll, this week remains fairly steady in the eyes of the voters. The biggest shift is Notre Dame dropping out of the Top 5 to No. 7 following two straight losses — at North Carolina and in the ACC Tournament Semifinals to Duke.

Patriot League champion Loyola rises three spots to No. 8, Navy falls to No. 14, and most changes to this week's poll are marginal from there.

USILA/Nike DI Coaches' Poll: Denver No. 1, Navy Drops to 15

The USILA/Nike Division I Coaches' Poll has been released for Week 12.

There is one more poll left in the season.

Denver retains No. 1 status with Brown and Maryland behind and receiving first-place votes. Albany jumps a spot to No. 4, and Syracuse leaps three spots after its ACC Tournament victory.

Navy fell the most, dropping from No. 7 to 15 after a Patriot League Semifinals loss.

Who's Hot?
Syracuse (+5):
Each year, the ACC tournament presents an opportunity for one of its team to score two big wins a week before Selection Sunday. This year, it was Syracuse that did it, beating North Carolina and Duke in two games in three days to claim the title.

Sooooooo ridiculous that Cuse isn't ranked over UAlbany, I think they are a good team but Syracuse is a better team. Cuse beat them by 6 or 7 I believe and it was never even that close.

Beat them 16-7.

We know Denver is a good team but they haven't played anybody since March and have had some close calls. Their April schedule was GTown, Villanova, St Johns, Providence and Marquette. How can they possibly have an RPI of #3 ?

I gotta go with Brown at #1 because they've just been hammering people. They had one hiccup.

Interesting things about the USILA poll:

  • SU beats Duke and moves up 3 spots. Duke moves up 4.
  • If the tournament were seeded exactly according to this poll (I know, unlikely), SU would face Albany in the quarterfinals, Denver in the semis, and Brown in the final. Fun to see some different opponents. (Although, I'm sure there's sentiment to get another crack at ND, and maybe even UMd.)

A week ago we were playing Brown in the 1st round @ Providence.

Who's got the better Molloy? ;)
