Welcome back to the North Carolina era.

The Tar Heels won the 1-2 matchup and now take the throne as the nation’s top team. They lead the KANE Women’s DI Media Poll for Week 9 — their first time in the top spot since Week 5 of 2023.

The Heels got a clutch second half performance from Lexi Zenk and showcased their depth and star power with the likes of Carolina Godine, Chloe Humphrey, Eliza Osburn leading the way.

It was such a high-level heavyweight tilt that BC is still No. 2, with both teams having beaten the clear No. 3 team Northwestern.

It’s murkier from there, as just a few votes separate Florida, Princeton and Johns Hopkins in the next spots.

Army and Harvard were risers in the back half of the poll.

11. Syracuse (9 - 5)

The Orange have been up and down a bit this spring, but with No. 1 strength of schedule this season, they’re battle tested as they head into the tail end of the regular season, which bodes well with their young players that have continued to make an impact.
