I think Quint tries to be a contrarian to get a rise out of people. It certainly works on Hopkins people. I've been thinking a lot about UNC. They are easy to dismiss based on past performance, but they might actually be pretty good this year. It also sounds like they've been doing well in their scrimmages (though one was to OSU), and while Quint likes to rail against scrimmage results, it's pretty clear he factors them into his rankings, at least at the start of the year. It does sound like the Heels may have lost their top defender in Peter Thoman to a knee injury (just based on what I've read on FanLax) so that could impact their ceiling. Apparently Duffy is back to his normal self after last year's injury. 11 seems a bit high, but they could be a fast riser. That Michigan game is really fascinating. Duke at 12 seems fair, I know they just had a big win, but I still think they are probably fifth in the ACC just from a talent perspective. Could be very wrong! Perhaps Malever is all the way back from his injury and will take them to a new level. Just don't see it yet. Yale at 4 is a surprise, though I wonder how far the Bulldogs would have gone last year if Machado Rodriguez didn't get hurt. Their FOGOs fell apart last year. Might be a very different team with him back.
