Portal time line question

How long is the window open to enter the portal? When do kids have to have their destination firmed up? Do the schools have to take the player back or can they choose to take a player back after entering the portal?

I guess in short when will this be wrapped up - Midnight Madness?

I think someone mentioned that once you entered a portal you give up your scholarship.

You may not have a spot to come back to if you can't find a better situation elsewhere if the school has already maxed out on scholarships.

Although if you haven't burn the bridge with the school on your way to the portal I think some may seek a verbal from the coach to let them know before the last spot is given out to give them a chance to come back before it's too late.

I am not sure since the seniors are given an additional year of eligibility whether that means the schools have more scholarships spots this year because of COVID. Does Marek and CDB if they choose to return will that eat up two spots or will their spots be *extra*?
