Please read, I need us all to be realistic, and positive.
Look, I am just as disappointed as the next guy about last night. We have so many expectations going to this season, that something like last night was the last thing we could of ever imagined.
But, lets be realistic. FCS teams, not often, but sometimes, stick around and mess with big time opponents. (See: Appalachian State, Georgia Southern vs UF/NCSU, etc) It happens. Lets face it.
However, lets keep in mind that we lost our LEADER, STARTING QB, in the 2nd quarter of the game. Before that, we had scored 10 points with our QB. In fact, we were somewhat driving when that idiotic punch was thrown.
The more I rewatch the video, the Villanova defender had somewhat of a late hit on THunt, that was right around the head area. Its hard for just a fan to relate, but imagine a 200+ pound guy falling right on your head, blind sided. Terrel was heated, and had a lot of anxiety being that last night was the first game.
My point is, there was an entire half + (2 quarters and a half) of football that we didn't have our starting QB. Don't get down on this team. It was a freak thing that happened. We are basing the results of last night based on a game we didn't have our starting QB leader for MORE than half of the game.
Now, I'm just venting, but lets stay positive. We didn't see our real product of football last night. I would be alarmed if that was the result with Terrel in the whole game.
Lets fix things up this bye week, STAY POSITIVE, go into CMU and tear them up. Lets pack the dome for the Terps and get to 3-0 like we were all wishing.
Go Orange.
