Possible Good News on Early Entries

It certainly is an improvement over the current situation. But realize they are talking about inviting about 90 players. That covers just about all the kids with likely pro aspirations (for the 30 available 1st round spots). So a lot of kids who won't get drafted will go to the camp. Hopefully after they get feedback there, most will return to school.

This might actually be bad news for SU while they are dealing with the scholarship reductions. Under the new proposal the coaches could end up waiting even longer for roster turnover to shake out.

I wish someone would explain how the NCAA is watching out for the interests of its student athletes by continuing to enforce a rule that makes players ineligible for going through the draft process?

Any kid that can't negotiate an acceptable contract should be allowed to return. Instead the NCAA continues to force kids to bend over for the NBA. Meanwhile everyone wrings their hands and can't figure out how to address the problem of kids entering early and giving up their eligibility when they ultimately don't get drafted.

Pay Pal Cal sounds like he's swinging from both sides of the plate :D

I agree completely. I understand that there's an obsession with amateurism in college sports, but going through a draft process (and not getting paid) doesn't make you a professional.

Hopefully we've entered the era where we're going to move past the amateur debate and we can start addressing issues by whether they are good for the school (and college sports in general) and when they are good for the athlete.
