Jimmy's return - wow, the team played really hard for Jimmy and wanted to give him a coming home present. Against a lesser team than NC, we get the win. Gotta just love the adjustment in both strategy and effort off the glass, but, alas, in the end 6 of us can't beat 9 of them.
Trevor, Malachi, and Roberson were all terrific, begs the question, don't we have any plays in the playbook for roberson - he only took 5 shots and a couple of those were putbacks. When a kid is shooting 5 for 5 , you gotta get him some more looks. The mid-range J should have been available for him all game long.
G - what gives ? Yeah, they guarded him tough, but he didn't execute his opportunities and was pretty much scoreless until garbage time. The TO before half-time was just atrocious. You gotta protect & go into the locker room with a 3 to 6 point lead in that situation.
Coleman - the post injury DC2 lacks the athleticism to be a gerat player, but he plays rugged and we need him in the middle.
Lydon - loved his shot blocking, but unfortunately the rest of his game is not ready for prime time. He will be a very good player for us down the road, but not this season. Opponents eyes light up when he plays @ the 5 spot. He had one great cut to the hoop for a slam, but that was it for him at the O end. So the problem with Tyler is that he can't really play the 5 & when he plays the 4 Roberson comes out & Tyler R's game is much better suited to the toughness of ACC competition at this stage o the game.
Got some cameos from Frank & Kaleb. Frank looks like a work in process and Kaleb looks lost.
Obokoh didn't get off the bench. Let him at least come in an use his fouls to inflict some pain with his big body when opponents go inside. I still don't get it.
All in all, the bottom line here, is that it is just shameful how few contributing players a program at our level can put on the court. I still say you can't manage the game minute to minute. We absolutely have to get everybody enough rest during the game so that they are fresh at crunch-time. One thing for sure is that the current formula is not working with this group.
