First time I really paid attention to Nolan Weidner's questions, but man oh man they leave a lot to be desired. He interrupts the coaches at certain points and says "uh huh, uh huh"... Plus the questions are intermediate level. And that's being kind.

He tries... but my goodness, as we have seen with the Syracuse football offense you can't make chicken salad out of chicken ...

Nolan's getting better in his reporting, but Donnie is still missed to this day.

can someone tell me what donnie did to piss marrone off? Anyone?

That's one of the questions I've been looking to get answered for the past few seasons.

Second this request

Rahme said in a chat that Donnie was just burned out from being the beat writer for so many years. And he seemed pretty sincere about it.

Thanks. Entirely plausible.

I don't think that's the full story. He didn't just walk away gracefully...he was pushed.

When Weidner took over for Donnie, I remember hearing that "something" went down between Donnie and Marrone. Something he did got him kicked off the SU beat.

I'd heard something like that too, but discounted it as being purely speculative. I could possibly see Boeheim succeeding in getting Waters removed from the beat if he wanted to, but not the first-year coach of a rebuilding football program. Maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle? :noidea:

All i know is it seems like Nolan really doesnt know the sport of football at all, or just isnt into it.

Webb requested to be reassigned.

Webb is on the local HS beat. He wrote today's Mason Powell story.

Did you read it on a message board?

I have known Donnie for years and the answer is in the middle

It seems to me that Webb's boss is the sports editor. If you are really interested in an answer, maybe you should give him a call and ask what happened? It says here that the sports editor is Charlie Miller and his phone number is 470-6053 ( I assume area code 315)

Jason Murray is the Sports Editor now. Miller runs social media.
