It's hard to not feel that good after a close to 40-point win, but that was the case for me last weekend

  • The penalties continue to be a killer (or at least will be against the other teams on our schedule). Game after game. Year after Year. The only change is this year it has extended to Special teams. Would have loved to see what we could do with a second-year Tony White coached Defense along with a Lustig coached Special teams.
  • Speaking of Lustig, does he have a body double who I saw on the SU sidelines?
  • Agree with many others that neither QB has separated himself to this point. I agree with playing both until and if one does so. Let everyone else prepare for 2 very different QB's. If they don't like it, then they need to separate themselves. Both looked okay-Neither looked great, though i did love the TD td throw to Alford while getting hit
  • Tucker and Mikel continue to be studs
  • More Damien Alford-Pretty please with a cherry on top.
  • Assume Dakota will start this week-Will be interesting to see who is the odd man out, unless they alternate Tisdale and Vet.
  • I mentioned after the last game about Roscoe sticking out-Believe he had 3 sacks in this game. Believe when Jonathan returns, we have 4 solid DE's.
  • The funniest play of the game to me was when Stefon came after their QB and he was like "Take the ball, just don't hurt me" before practically handing it to Okechuckwu.
  • With Clemson squeaking past GT at home, I believe every game left on the schedule is winnable-We just need to play disciplined and continue to feed Tucker the ball.

I'm reserving judgement on the penalty thing. We only had 4 at Ohio. Rutgers is a mulligan because half the penalties were not penalties. UAlbany penalty fiasco was a lot of focus issue penalties and young guys flying around, that can sometimes plague a game like this against a way over matched opponent. I think there was some ticky tact stuff as well on the outside holds. I don't know if it's anything to be concerned with yet...but we'll find out Friday.

I thought the holds on Mang and Pena were pretty weak calls. Negated the Queeley TD and a long run.

Officiating is maddening and capricious. I'm just a guy who's watched a lot of football, but I see penalties (usually holding) on almost every slo-mo replay. And some of the ticky-tack penalties are so (I'll say it) egregious. Jesus it's tackle football, not Dancing w/the Stars. It's usually very inconsistent and can often be a game changer. I don't know what to do about it except review every play and have 8-hour games.
But when I see alignment penalties or clips on return coverages or knocking someone out of bounds who's already put of bounds that really pisses me off. So undisciplined.
Heck I'm the kind of athlete (does HS Basketball count) who believes you shouldn't celebrate anything until the game is over. Maybe a fist pump, but that's it.
And yes, I am fun at parties and I do get invited. Homeowners watch your chandeliers.

Part of me thinks when there are two mismatched teams, the refs don't give the benefit of the doubt to the better team nearly as much. So we got called for some softer stuff that wouldn't typically be called.

The false starts are a little worrisome, but the game I watched didn't show any penalty replays so I don't really know how bad they were.

I’m just glad (and amazed) the Albany coach didn’t choke on his gum while screaming the entire game. It was nerve wrecking.
THANK YOU! In the first quarter, he was yelling and bombs were going, and that damn thing never flew out. I have no idea what Willy Wonka style that was.
