I will divide it to the good, bad, and ugly, in order

Good
  • I know this isn't the usual powerhouse Clemson offense, but our Defense played very well.
  • Roscoe continues to impress and at the minimum, should find himself in an NFL camp.
  • Our backers can play with anyone in the country.
  • Adrian Cole continues to play well when called upon
  • Shrader finally completed a deep pass. If he can hit 1 or 2 of those a game, our offense goes to another level.
  • Sean Tucker-Nuff said
  • Kalan Ellis looked good again and is a True Freshman
  • Dino went for it on a couple of 4th downs, including a 4th and 7 deep in our end on our last drive. With us having 3 Timeouts left there, I thought it was a gamble and an aggressive call and I wouldn't have blamed him for punting in that situation, so want to give credit where due
  • I know many are down are on our receivers, but I think we some potential there. Even our drops weren't awful ones-they were usually the result of bad passes or getting mugged (See Alford, Damien). I personally trust Courtney Jackson in a big spot over Taj and both he and Alford have shown the abilify to get YAC. The pass that Queeley broke up on the last drive would have been an INT if it was to Taj. I'm not saying they're all world, but I don't think they're the biggest problem. We need to scheme them open at times (Marrone was very good at this) and our QB still has work to do as a passer
  • Shrader didn't hit on a couple of 3rd down passes under pressure
  • James Williams was better than the previous game
Bad
  • It seems that other teams seem to have much more success on the screen/sideline passes than us. We seem to always be outnumbered on the perimeter and rarely get more than 2-3 yards on those passes
  • Not much creativity on offense. I did like the play where went to one side of the field and passed to Tucker for a 16-yard gain
  • I understand Dino's thinking there, but Smzyt has really struggled on the deep kicks this year and has been close to automatic inside 40. Needed one more 1st down.
  • I hate seeing us often waste a timeout when we have a big play to get to the red zone and have the other team on their heels. Dino again called a timeout in that situation, with the next play the Shrader INT
  • Again seemed to be a lack of urgency from us at the end of a half, this time in the second half. Seemed Dino was playing for a tie instead of playing to win.
  • We continue to struggle at the end of the 1st half. It seems every P5 game, we have given up scores and/or ran out of time on offense at the end of the 1st half. That part of the game has been a weakness for us in previous years
Ugly
  • The blocking on all our kick returns are subpar at best. Pena looks like he can really break one with a little space, but it seems our only blocks there are in the back.
  • The final kick. No matter who's fault it was, it was ugly.
The good news-Our 2 most winnable games left of the year are coming up. VT looks very beatable-Can we seize the day and save our season?

I’ve been one of Dino’s bigger supporters during this rough patch but how do you give him credit for going for it on 4th and 7 on the last drive? The only other option would have been to quit and walk off the field.

Shrader should watch some second half Gino smith today. Tuck is awesome, but with this years team we still gets stuck at Line of scrimmage 1 out of 4 plays.

I think Shrader had some absolutely horrible throws in the 3rd. Right into the ground.

I’ll cut him slack on the deep throws as it’s not his thing - but he’s gotta get the ball to the WR. And his INT in the redzone was a killer.

I believe there was about 230 left and SU had all 3 timeouts. If you punt and get a 3 and out, you still have time to drive down and get a FG. If you don't convert a 4th and 7, the game is effectively over. So I can definitely see the argument to punt there and I don't believe it would have been quitting at that point.

With 2:30 left? No way. No argument IMO.

He struggles most with the long sideline throws, similar to Dungey, but worse.

Clemson called this timeout. I think the ref may have pointed to us first, but it was them.

We called timeout immediately after the 3rd down play. Which left no choice.

I'd like to assume that's because we were planning on going for it, though with Dino's recent time management track record, hard to know for sure.
All I know is I want the confident Dino from 2016-2018 back. As Erv Phillips tweeted, in 2017 there's no hesitation and we got for it on 4th and 1 at then end. That's the coach who we hired and "fell in love with" and hope we can get it back.

I get that everything is harder with Clemson. More talent, long time defensive staff.

But all opponents here on out now with Shrader, Tucker, Elmore (his block on that early long Tucker run was pure destruction) should be more riverboat gambler. Don't make it a kicking game when your FG kicking just isn't right.

Shrader is also showing to be very good at keeping his eyes downfield and spotting guys coming open while he scrambles. I'm sure Dino still holds his breath when he throws, but it should keep improving.
