the ceiling was the Nat'l Championship. Post St. John's we're going to be lucky to make the NIT. What a difference 2 weeks makes. 3 games with No JB and 2 freshman basically playing the bulk of the minutes and 2 losses on the road.
You know SU can't contain Euro dudes, never could and never will. Let alone 2 of them. It's like 35' footers are layups for those dudes when they play us. NY's JC team hit 50% of their 24 threes and maybe 1/3 were decent looks. They shot 50% from field overall. The Knicks were blushing at the half court prayers they were chucking up.
The final scores may have not indicated this but they were within 7 and couldn't make a play when they needed it during G town or the Johnnies. It took the game of the Johnnies lives to hang on to win. The team is still finding itself. Clearly having no low post offensive option, constantly getting out rebounded by double digits and Tyler Roberson's beaten psyche aren't the recipe for winning. Despite it all they were still scrapping.
Hang your hat on that, this team is only going to get better. They're young and will live and die on the three. Hopkins is finding his way. They haven't exactly played a cupcake schedule thus far. Before the season started any of us would have taken 7-3 at this juncture coming off of last season.
