If what he says is correct, there are only 6 schools left who have an open date in 2017:  Bowling Green, Coastal Carolina, Florida International, Tulane, UL-Lafayette and UL-Monroe.  In actual practice, Tulane might be our only option.

As this article points out, this isn't just a problem for 2017.  Subsequent years are also in really bad shape.  This is why Maryland is scheduling games with Charlotte in 2022 and 2023.  You have to be proactive if you want real control over who you play (and if you want to ensure you play 7 or 8 home games a season).

I hope that the new AD does a better job booking OOC games well into the future.  Scheduling plays an incredibly important role in helping to determine future W-L records for a given program.  We have to do better here if we want to re-establish the program as one that consistently goes to bowls and has winning records.  It is really maddening to see this happen over and over since it could be correctly so easily.
