ACC Basketball Night in Review: NC State's NCAA Hopes Hurt After Loss to UVa, Deacons Upset Miami (PS; Stevens)

Freshman Dinos Mitoglou helped shoot Wake Forest past Miami.

N.C. State couldn't close out Virginia at home.

Louisville won largely without Wayne Blackshear.

That, plus a look at Saturday's crammed schedule, in the ACC night in review.

NIGHT TO REMEMBER

Dinos Mitoglou, Wake Forest

The freshman forward dropped 21 points and eight rebounds on Miami as the Demon Deacons earned a 72-70 victory. Mitoglou, who made six 3-pointers in the victory, connected on multiple outside shots for the seventh time in Wake Forest's last eight games.

That's three victories in four contests for the Demon Deacons, who nonetheless still have road games against Virginia, Notre Dame and Duke still looming in the final month of the regular season.

Hidden Gems: SU Defeats BC 70-56 (PS; Axe)

Entering Wednesday night's game against Boston College, Syracuse had been in games decided by four points or less or in overtime nine times.

Only one other ACC team (Virginia Tech) has been in as many games decided by four points or less.

So you'll have to forgive the Orange if it enjoys this 70-56 win over the Eagles a little more.

It was Syracuse's first convincing win in exactly a month, a 70-57 win over Florida State on Jan. 11.

In between the games against the Seminoles and Eagles, there was plenty of drama (on and off the court) for Syracuse.

Close wins over Wake Forest (86-83), Boston College (69-61), and Virginia Tech (72-70).

Convincing losses to Clemson (66-53), UNC (93-83) with a couple nail-biters thrown in against Miami (66-62) and Pitt (83-77).
