When the Syracuse University men's basketball team's self-imposed ban from the 2015 postseason was announced, the expression "play for pride" was used often.

Play 'for' pride? No, you got it wrong.

Syracuse's 65-60 win over Notre Dame was further proof of how this Syracuse team playswith pride ...and guts, grit, heart, toughness and any other blue-collar descriptions you want to throw in there.

Syracuse beat the No.9 team in the country Tuesday night with their best player on the bench for the last five minutes, a rarely-used bench player putting up a career-high and a guard with a bad back and a shooting slump silencing the critics (including this one) playing with some 'onions' in the second half.
