Remember this isn't what you want (Which i'd say at least 90% of fans want Hunt to at least split snaps), but what you think will happen.

A. Allen plays majority or all of the snaps
B. Hunt plays majority or all of the snaps
C. Allen and Hunt basically split snaps

I'll bite - C

Allen "must start" for many different reasons. I suspect he will be on a very short lease. If he throws another INT or offense muddles in first Qtr and Wagner scores to take the lead, Hunt could play as early as 2nd Qtr.

A better scenario, Allen does really well and we go up by 30 pts in first half. Hunt then starts 2nd half with first team.

All I really want is to see Hunt play 1 full qtr with the first team.

This isn't based upon any information, but I'm going to guess that Hunt plays the majority of snaps. If the coaching staff is going to make a switch, then there isn't a better time than when we have Wagner / Tulane to get Hunt acclimated to running the offense. If they don't capitalize on the opportunity now, then I probably wouldn't be in favor of it happening down the road.

I also believe that two-headed QBs are the road to nowhere. Make a choice and go. I couldn't care less about which one of them gets the nod, just so long as one of them produces. And in the interest of full disclosure, I've expressed my belief here that I thought prior to the season that Allen gave us the best chance to get back to a bowl. But with 1 TD against 6 INTs [or whatever], with several of those turnovers leading indirectly to opposing scores, I've seen enough and no longer believe that he has the chops.

I'm going with C

I think Shafer takes a page out of Northwestern's book and has them split the snaps and compete for the starting job. I think Allen starts.

I'll go A, but I think we do see Hunt, and not just in garbage time.

Allen starts and plays a majority of the snaps but Hunt gets a serious look. If Hunt is clearly better it might be 50-50 vs. Tulane. If he's still better, he starts vs. Clemson.

I'll say Allen starts, but if he hasn't produced a couple of TDs midway through the 2nd quarter, it's all Hunt in 2nd half.

Anyone who doesn't think AND know A is the answer, should come on here this week and expose themselves with a vote.

The when proven wrong, they can come back next Sunday and say their goodbyes, for their stupidity should never allow them to post again.

But before they go, please tell me that Eli sucks and he should be benched to, you Fn maroons.

I forgot that Allen has won two Super Bowls.

The only reason I'm not choosing A is because I think (hope?) we will be kicking enough shzz out of Wagner that Hunt will get a ton of snaps in the normal "backup plays a lot in a blowout" role.

In typical football coaches style.. I'm going with "A".

Since the question is What do we think the coaches will do, I will go with:
C - Split snaps

But it's nice to find a topic that riles up Kaiser as much as Eli Manning. Who, by the way, should be benched.

Want C with a transition to B against Tulane, but expect A and then a transition to C after Clemson does its thing with us.

Why would you make personnel moves based on what happens against Clemson?

Last years SU team would lose by two touchdowns against this years Clemson team, and there wouldn't be any shame in that.

Because ego and oral agreements with quarterbacks prevent smart people from making smart decisions at the appropriate time - maybe it will be after Clemson, maybe when Allen gets picked off 3 or 4 times vs NC State and we lose a game we should on paper win and then panic sets in. I just don't think the move to C will be now, when it should be. I think they let Allen look decent against our cupcake opponents to fulfill the before mentioned ego and oral agreement requirements. We shall see I hope I am wrong. I am no expert but Allen reminds me of a hundred other quarterbacks who have the pedigree and the right build, but throw a pick or two for every beautiful confidence inspiring long completion they manage to pull off - just looks to me like the stuff that is 'wrong' with him was never corrected at his former school where he became a forgotten player and we don't have time to wait for him to fix it. If you go with Hunt it can't be worse, and you are building on something for next year. Plus the uncertainty he creates for the defense lets us get the ball to Estime and Broyld - something that will be very quickly shut down if the seemingly one dimensional Allen is our guy and funderburke doesn't step up.

I see this p playing out in this way because I think that Shafer is at is core a nice guy and wants to let his OC/assistant head coach prove himself and validate his decisions (Allen and the offense switch). I think the OC is implementing a new offense because he wants to be 'his own man', doesn't want to be seen as inheriting a system that worked and just running that because then he doesn't get full credit which from a career perspective makes sense - the problem is the old system worked, everyone knows it including Hunt, and you can use our new 'weapons' within that system. Shafer should have said look, I am giving you a big shot here with this job, nail it on recruiting and spend all the rest of your time learning the ins and outs of what worked last year so we can replicate it, and then think about how we can tweak it and make it better with a quarterback who can run. I think Allen's email looking to join the team threw a big 6'4" wrench in the works. I also think that we will keep our recruiting class which is starting to look pretty good and that we will get this figured out by the end of the season and have a lot to look forward to. Just my relatively uninformed opinion...

Allen should start.
Hunt should get about 1/3 of the snaps, including plenty with the first unit.

As I've indicated several times before, I would've liked to have seen Hunt get the Brian Brohm/Ryan Nassib treatment this year. Perhaps that will be the plan going forward, we'll see.

I think people are looking at the negative plays that are not all Allens fault and forgetting a whole bunch of really good throws.. then they are looking at a couple of good plays by hunt and ignoring that even on the run he scored because of a broken play not a good play he ran..

Allen starts and unless he just plays awful he plays until the game is out of reach. It would not shock me if Hunt plays a series to see what he can do with the first team. The crowd will boo Allen because thats what crowds do and the crowd will cheer Hunt because thats what crowds do..

Hunt played 7-8 snaps and made bad throws on 1-3 and had to run a couple times and we dont even know if he made the correct reads and people are already wanting a change...

Allen and he'll probably play the whole game (until mop up time if we're so lucky to get to mop up time.)

C...both should get a shot these next two games, let's see who wins out.

I think it will be A because coaches are a hard headed bunch and unlikely to change. Should be B but won't be again for the same reason.

I also think it will be to our detriment later in the season, starting with the Clemson game.

Let's say Drew torches Wagner and Tulane. Gains Confidence based on the lower level of talent. Huge difference in talent and speed going into the ACC. Problem is, FBS defenses don't fear or think at this point that he is a threat to beat them, they will all challenge him and every throw going forward. Jumping routes, etc. especially in the flat and tunnel screens...then throws 4-5 picks against Clemson and FSU.

Most of the non die-hard fanbase will then bail and the season from that point on will be lost.

Come back and bash me if this kid turns out to be the Tom Brady/Peyton Manning of college football but I think I am pretty safe in my prediction.
