It's because Princeton has fallen off the face of the earth. There a shadow of what they once were. It's sad.

The quickness of their fall to mediocrity has been stunning.

Agreed, but in fairness they had started to slip a few years before he left. What Tierney was able to do was bring a good defense and couple it with great recruiting to an area where he basically is the only D1 program. They have also gotten a couple under the radar guys who have turned into stars ie Baptiste, Miller etc.

Where was Yale, Brown and Harvard during that time period? Things seem to run in cycles in the Ivy League. Yale had a brief blip in the late 80s early 90s but have not really been relevant since those years. We beat them to go to the final four a few years ago. The Bulldogs went years without winning anything in the Ivies. Yale, Harvard and Brown seem to be up now. Cornell, Penn, and Princeton are down. Dartmouth has never been really relevant.

I think Princeton might have toughened up their admission standards for "athletes", and Tierney left soon afterwards.
