Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse athletic director John Wildhack said he supported maintaining the status quo for football scheduling during the ACC Fall meetings, which were held on Wednesday and Thursday in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Wildhack's preference ultimately won out on Wednesday, despite the fact that speculation entering the meetings centered around a pair of possible changes.
The other options included a nine-game conference schedule and an eight-game conference schedule with two power-five games required. Those options would likely have increased the league's schedule strength and created more quality games for ESPN to broadcast.
Wildhack, though, said he believes retaining the scheduling structure benefits both the entire ACC and Syracuse. Teams are currently supposed to play eight conference games and at least one power-five opponent during non-conference play...
