A quick note on Ron Thompson, the redshirt freshman defensive end who is making the switch this summer from tight end. He will wear No. 17, according to Sue Edson, the assistant director of athletics for communications for football. Thompson had been practicing in No. 88 because there was no No. 17 jersey available that fit him.
