I completely disagree with this story. Dixon kicked the ball exceptionally poorly Saturday.
The worst punts you can make are low line drives directly at the returner. These are the easiest ones to return and it seemed to me that every kick he made was like this. He got away with them because the Wagner PR guy let them bounce in front of him, and they took big forward bounces to end up looking on paper like they were good efforts (in large part because Riley made such bad contact with the ball it didn't come close to reaching the return guy).
On Saturday, it looked like he was kicking the ball off his ankle. It wasn't on the snapper either, the snaps were all fine and the protection was solid as well.
Dixon is capable of much better kicks that the ones he did against Wagner. I hope that his performance on Saturday was an abberation.
