maybe the president knows more than people on the message boards. PSU might have got the best deal available.

He might have how long does it take to go to board. Could have been done in. Few hours

I don't see why this decision would be any more thought out than any of the others that have come out of penn state.

My thought is that Erickson probably knew that had he reviewed it with the BOT, their decision would have been to fight/appeal it. This would have led to even worse penalties, and Erickson knew it. So he took his chance to take the punishment, knowing that he was minimizing it (compared to what might happen to them if the yahoo BOT decided to fight).

That being said, I believe he should have/was mandated to at least inform the Board what he was going to agree to. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out. Erickson may well not be long for his job. But if the BOT ends up appealing this or taking it to court, we may have seen the last FB in Happy Valley in a long time. The NCAA and the B1G want this settled now.
