Some bizarre stuff in this op-ed piece in the Centre (PA) Daily Times:

The former PSU grad assistant who wrote the piece states:

"In addition to power and control dynamics among the staff and Paterno’s powerful presence in the community, a crazy tradition at Penn State was the coaches showered together after each practice and game. We never did this at Brown or at the University of Rhode Island, and my coaching friends never experienced this on their staffs."

TRADITION, EH? Wonder who started that "crazy tradition??" Rip Engle?

The penn state threads are getting old, can't we have a single thread and have all the discussion in there

This whole thing just gets more and more bizarre ...

The bench Nassib and fire Marrone threads are getting old also. I don't have a problem with people posting them, however, as long as other people want to respond. If a post is truly "old" or boring it will likely sink out of sight before you know it. Maybe this one will; I've certainly posted clunkers before. On the other hand, the goings on described in this article seemed unique and strange enough in light of what's happened at PSU to warrant its posting IMO. I think until expansion, the PSU scandal and other such issues are resolved they'll likely show up as topics on this forum.

Not Sandusky. He's a pedophile, not gay.

I don't think Joe Pa is necessarily gay either. Got to admit its a somewhat odd tradition, whatever it means.

It is a strange tradition. I've read a few things with Sandusky equating stating that because he's a pedophile then he is automatically gay. It's important to me to try to stress that there's a major difference even when there's an innocuous comment.

If people were dirty and needed cleaned, then OK, but if it was a "tradition", then it is disturbing.

I played a little college sports, and I never once heard of coaches showering together. The HC usually had a shower by his office. All the assistants would shower at their respective homes.

LOL. Nice find, I hadn't seen that one and I thought I had seen most PSU articles. That's a little weird IMO. Sure, coaches may end up showering at the same time just by chance, but to make it a "tradition"? Don't any of these guys have private showers either? PSU is one sick place.
