The ones that did start at least a few games before coming here and had some success - Shrader, McCord, Angeli, have been good to great.

Generally when we take 1’s or backups, we get a good return.  When we go deeper than that, there has been no return.

There is a pattern here and I was really hoping we wouldn’t have any warm bodies on our QB depth chart this year after what we saw last year.

Think about last year:

Lost our starter - Angeli
Backup ineffective - Collins (and he probably was from day 1)
3rd string - Williams (injured or ineffective or both)
4th String - Carney (RS or staff wouldn’t play him or whatever the hell that was)
5th String - Walk-on that looked like it

In the event of disaster our contingency to keep the pressure off Lott this year and allow him to RS is the #3 guy.  And if the #3 guy is a warm body……guess who’s getting forced into action?

If I’m Fran after last season, if I value my job I’m not rolling the dice on any aspect of the QB depth chart.  It better be dialed in from top to bottom.
