Three of five of our QBs have led this team to wins within the past two years; Hunt, Dungey, and Long. Wilson isn't great, but is solid when he only has to make a couple reads. Mahoney looked pretty good last week running the option and hasn't shown off his arm yet.

Shafer gets a lot of crap, and some of it deservedly so, but he deserves praise for the talent and depth he's assembled on this roster and not just at QB but the rest of the offense. Some of these guys playing right now will be talked about for years to come and not in the coulda, woulda, shoulda kinda way.

Not here to pass judgement on the QB's on our roster (pro or con)...but I do think Mahoney should get some credit for leading us to victory last week. That would be 4 out of 5.

Nothing specific but it seems to me all his completed throws are very early in his progressions. The game moves too fast for him to hold onto the ball too long.
I meant when did you see him be "solid?"

I think people are trying hard to say something nice about his play,

I generally agree with you - he makes a lot of mistakes. But you're being a tad harsh. He had a decent drive throwing the ball for Custis TD vs CMU.

people act like making reads is so simple.. if so why are teams like Ala/OSU/Texas/Auburn looking at ditching the starting QBs?? to be honest we rarely have open guys to throw to and the oline is far from perfect, Dungey made plays but he struggles much the same but many of his throws have been to the first open guy.

Wilson with a better oline or WRs that created separation would probably be OK much of the time. Dungey saved plays and made poor throws and decisions too. His running legs are what made him better not his throwing..

His legs do make him better, but his throwing is also very good. It is the combination of both along with gamesmanship that makes him good.

Would Wilson have made the throw to Ishmael on the option pass? I think Dungey is more consistent which is critical.

Yes I think wilson completes that throw. but dungey so far seems more consistent and is better throwing when under pressure.

I'd say Dungey makes that throw 8/10 times and Wilson does 6/10. The difference is the DBs wouldn't have bit because Wilson isn't much of a threat to run.
