I can see where people get a little bit of Dungey but he actually reminds me more of the kid who apparently helped steer him our direction: Ian Book. I'm not sure many people are familiar with Book here but the kid is a really smart, savvy QB with nice touch. His accuracy dipped (at least in terms of completion %) this past season, but he makes really good decisions. Flawless on the read option, which was particularly noticeable since the better athlete of the two -- Brandon Wimbush -- really struggled with making the right decisions there. Book moves around well enough -- can run the ball or buy time by sliding within the pocket or getting outside and running or looking downfield. If you watch Lamson's film -- he's got really nice touch as well, moves well within the pocket, makes throws downfield on the run and can run with the football. Hard to say he's as good as Book, but he has the look of a kid who can compete right away, IMO. Maybe not start as a freshman necessarily, but compete for the backup role and certainly has the potential to compete for the starting role in year 2. Not sure he'll be as tough as Dungey or as polished as Book. Doesn't have Tommy's arm strength -- at least not in that film. But I wouldn't be shocked if he's close to as good as book and better than Tommy when all is said and done. I hope Tommy proves me wrong and has an outstanding breakout season this year. There's a chance that happens, but I do really, really like Lamson as a potential successor.
