Seems like a smart, high-character kid based upon the awards received and certainly is a welcome addition to the program.  Walk-ons certainly add much to a program and are rarely a bad thing. However, projecting him out to be a significant contributor on the field or making the two deep in the future seems a little fantastical.

Molding walk-ons into starters/rotation guys, especially at QB, is certainly not a position this program wants to consistently be in if we are trying to get back to being a consistent, winning, bowl eligible program.  I am hopeful that the new scheme makes it easier to bring in talented QB's in the future so we won't have to be wonder if our walk-on QB's have the chops to make it on game day.  Unfortunately, until that day comes we still have to consider if a walk-on is going to be an integral of our program at QB in the future.  Not an enviable position to be in at this time.

Edit:  Forgot to mention that one of the best things about this particular player is he went to Dillard HS in Fla. which would be a nice school to continue to mine and the new staff is very active there.
