Reserve quarterback Tad Hudson, the former four-star recruit who was one of the top-ranked high school prospects in the state of North Carolina, entered the portal on Tuesday. He spent one season in the UNC program as a true freshman, and didn't appear in a game. His departure impacts the Tar Heels' depth, though true freshman early enrollee Michael Merdinger has worked as the third-string quarterback behind Max Johnson and Conner Harrell during spring practices.

This kid has athletics in his genes. His great grandfather was Doc Hudson. Doc was the fastest thing you'd ever seen until the accident.

Certainly a kid to look into. Probably was not thrilled with the staff bringing in ATM transfer Max Johnson this past November who still has 2 years of eligibility remaining. Probably doesn't want to wait until Max has left. He could see an easier path here at SU with the opportunity to start in 2025.
