On sportcenter tonight they played a bit of the most recent OTL feature on the investigation. Bob Ley states something to the effect that what was not disputed was a ball boy traveling with the team...and then had Katz piece discussing how rare this was.

Is this true that ball boys were traveling with the team? I thought the accusers mom had stated her son would never go on planes. Is this no longer disputed? or is this "undisputed" situation only to do with the third and latest person to come forward?

He was NOT traveling as a ball boy. He was traveling as babysitter for the Fine kids. Therefore it did not raise any questions. It is not unusual for coaches to bring babysitters on trips to NCAA games if they are bringing their wives and small kids. It allows the wives to attend games, go out to dinner, etc. (I have attended a lot of NCCA games; if a player has his wife and small kids there, there is frequently a babysitter who shares a room with the kids so that the mother does not have to stay there all the time),

well then espn needs to be checked because they pretty much made it sound like the traveling was being done in the capacity of a ball boy

That shows how much ESPN knows about this. It is absurd to think that anyone would travel with the team as a ball boy. Even in MLB, the home team supplies ball boys to the visiting team.

Serious question: how often is the babysitter is 13-15 year old boy?

Funny thing is.Before any of this stuff came to light.I was watching a Cuse game and i noticed the adults were wiping up the sweat under the baskets.I actually wondered why the kids were not doing it.

Indeed. I caught the piece this morning regarding Katz's comments (along with his perplexed look/deameanor) giving the impression of "what's up with that?" Just another situation in which the WWL is not reporting all the facts, but rather what is more sexy/sensational in this scandalous debacle.

mason-- i have kids -- i have never personally had a 13-15 boy as a babysitter but it is not that uncommon--- the question that should be asked --when davis was on road with team did fine have his kids with him on all those trips??--- if yes why would anyone question davis's presence-- the kid lived in the fine house --

I babysat a fair amount as a teenage boy. I am one of 5 kids and had a much younger sibling (-12 years). I sat regularly for about 3 different families up until about my junior year of HS.

There are two issues here; 1) do ball boys travel, and of course the answer is no. They are supplied the the court that the game is being plyed on. But 2) do kids who are ball boys go on the road? Unless they are being employed as babysitters, then no they should not

I wouldnt let some ing 13 year old boy take care of my kid on a road trip. that to me is nearly as insane as all this other .

Think about it, would you want it to be a young girl? (no even worse), an older guy? (worse yet).. A 20-30yo girl (yummy-team would have a field day), An old lady? (maybe but what old lady wants to go on a basketball trip)?

....what old lady wants to go on a basketball trip)?

I can think of a couple. Although I am sure they would not apriciate the word "old"

I use "vintage" refering to those not so young ladies in my circles.

Just to sit in a hotel room? Why not?

I did a lot of babysitting at that age. Never traveled but I don't see the problem.

That's the perfect age for a babysitter. All they are doing is sitting there for a couple of hours while the kids prolly are watching TV.

Plus back then there was no internet, no twitter, no facebook. All you did was either watch TV or drop water balloons out of hotel windows.

Actually that's not 100% true. I knew a kid back in the day who was a bat boy for the Yankees. He got to go on one road trip per year and the post season games. He was the bat boy when Reggie hit his three dingers in the World Series and he roomed with Bucky Dent on the road. However, this kid was over 18 at the time.
