Meant to bring this up yesterday but forgot and another poster raised it in another thread.

Is it SOP for a DA to be texting info to a national media organization? Just seemed odd when Schwarz said that he had just received a text from Fitz.

About the results of the investigation? NFW.

As long as Fitz gets his name in the papers, his methods are ok. Someone should ask Fitzy who he breaks bread with...;)

yes i heard that as well-- i know nothing about Police work --or DA's but sounds horrendous to me -- one thing for DA to reach out to Schwarz to get whatever they have on this case another for Fitz to be texting DA info to Espn -- bizarre imo

formalized in their official rules and procedures? no.

standard operating procedure? yes. Prosecutors LOVE to leak information through the press as "unnamed, highly placed sources." Happens every day in every city.

the post standard should ask just that question.

I think this a good idea. The Post Standard should launch an investigation into ESPN. Meanwhile, ESPN should launch an investigation into how the P-S covered the story in 2002/2003 and today. I think Fitz needs to investigate the Davis/Lang accusations and the SPD. The SPD can then investigate the Davis/Lang accusations and the DA's office. Once all of the investigations are complete I'd prefer that Pete Thamel report on all of them at the same time. Chances of that happening are about the same as John Marinatto announcing that BYU, BSU, Air Force, Houston, SMU, UCF and Navy are all joining Big East Football at the same time.

I was thinking the same thing when Schwarz said that. How can that possibly be standard protocol--let alone acceptable?

...this may find its way into judicial review...no, the DA should not be texting to the media...next stop...WHAT DID DA SAY...this would considerably heighten the issue if it had something to do with the case...duh!
