While not as majestic as Niagara Falls but half the time to get there visit Rochester and the Genesee Brew House in the city. The surrounding neighborhood is a little sketchy but not terrible. Brew House overlooks the Genesee River Gorge and it High Falls. Service is friendly, food is decent pub food and there are a bunch of beers (not just Genesee) to try. It has only been open a couple years and I finally made it there earlier this month. Indoor and outdoor dining, large bar, large well-lit parking lot and a roof-top patio. You can tore ur their museum and gift shop while waiting for a table or hang out on the rooftop patio or at the bar with sports on the big screens. The falls are lit at night and there is a large pedestrian bridge to walk across and get a better view. Like I said they aren't Niagara Falls but still a pretty good size and worth the visit, a whole lot closer and you do not have to worry about passports to get over to Canada. Syracuse has the original Dinosaur BBQ and Rochester has the 2nd of about 8 or 9 locations. Ours is located in an old train depot which also sits on the Genesee about 1 1/2 miles North of the Genesee Brew House. FWIW I saw that the Adirondacks are at about 35% color for fall foliage so Friday may be a pretty decent trip from Turning Stone too. Hit up Armory Square Thursday night or on Saturday before and/or after the game. Some of the bars are opening early to accommodate you thirsty Tiger fans.
