This Marshall team has good guards but they are nothing like we saw against Florida, They have not been very good from 3 pt range and don't take any where near as many as Florida (31 of 118 for 26% as a team). Looks like they only go 7 deep. The Herd also is not a very good ft shooting team at 63%, SU is currently at 66%. I don't think they match up very well with us and predict an easy win tonight 86-67. Here's a look at the seven deep Herd..

#24 DeAndre Kane So 6'4" G - Avg. 38min, 15.8ppg, 5.2reb, 3.3assists 45%fg and 32% 3pfg. Probably the herds best player. From Pittsburgh Pa. so he got away from Dixon.

#3 Damier Pitts 5'10" Sr 165lb G - Avg. 33min, 13.5ppg, 2.3reb, 4.7assists

#2 Robert Goff 6'9" Jr 240lb - Avg. 28min, 10ppg 4.7reb, and 60%fg. Has not attempted a 3pt shot and has 47%ft avg so appears he is not a shooter.

#1 Dennis Tinnon Jr 6'8" - Avg. 26min, 10ppg, 9.7reb and 66%fg. The Herds best rebounder.

#10 Dago Pena 6'6" Sr G/ - Avg. 23min, 6.7ppg, 1.5reb and 27%fg.

#23 Shaquille Johnson Sr 6'3" G - Avg. 23min, 5.5ppg, 4reb and 39%fg.

#21 Justin coleman Fr 6'5" G - Avg. 17min, 4.7ppg 4.2reb and 39%fg.

It looks to me like the size of of Marshall is going to be a big problem, for them.

Exactly, that and the fact that traditionally teams that do well against us are good at hitting the 3 over the zone. That's why Florida had me concerned. In this game we just pack the zone in and make them shoot from the perimeter. No contest imo...

Also their coach, Tom Herrion, worked as an assistant at Providence under Pete Gillen, is very familiar with Syracuse and the Carrier Dome. As is their Director of Basketball Operations, Michael Brown, of Providence and C-NS fame.

Anyone know what they do defensively? Zone at all? Ball pressure?

I am thinking the opposite, we spread the zone a little further, they won't want to shoot over us. Their "size" inside isn't enough to scare our interior defense. We will get a lot of turnovers and blocks when they try to dribble around our perimeter guys into the interior. Passes into the interior will either be difficult shots over our big men, or need to be passed back out. With the speed and size of our defense, every pass is a risk of a deflection leading to a run out.

Honestly, I think JB wants this team to be focused, and moreso than any other season, there needs to be complete focus. He knows the kids will revel in a big W vs. Florida, but he threw it out there already about how important it is for us to look forward to the next game and take care of bid-ness. I don't think it'll be as close as many are predicting, but JB sure as heck made the team sure that they can't afford any lapses this season.

I saw an article by their coach that said they want to attack the zone
at the FT line and dump down low.

the kid Coleman was a top 50 HS player a few years back ... believe he committed to Louisville and failed to qualify

Michael Brown, of Providence and C-NS fame.

Easily the loudest cheer for an opposing player in the Dome that I can remember

As for Marshall, that Timmons kid was abusing Cinci on the boards in that game. Not that intimidating Yancy (Mr. Softee) Gates is a tall order or anything.
