  • Dungey starting position was challenged- he obviously stepped up passing the best he has all year. He is a winner and we have been lucky to have him for 4 years. Always wonder what could have been these last few years without his injuries.
  • Sean Riley played like a giant. How about that catch where he jumped and caught it with full extension?
  • With the way our offense was humming, can definitely question the punt block in this game. However, I hope we continue to be aggressive there in the right moments
  • Wish we had our #3 (Fredrick) for their #3 (Harmon). I know he was beaten on their last TD, but he was on him and it was just a perfect pass and impossible to stop. Iffy has a bright future, but Harmon's physicality was too much for him at this point in his career. Probably a great learning experience for him, though. Probably the best WR we'll see this year.
  • Can't believe how many plays the opposing WR's were 5 yards past the Defense. If we get beat like that, need to just grab and take the 15 yard PI over the 50 yard TD.
  • Love the continued aggression at the end of the 1st half. Second consecutive game where we stole 3 points that could have made the difference in the game.
  • Nykeim and Custis also played well. Can't remember any drops off the top of my head.
  • No penalties for Pierce all game. Get the man a game ball :)
  • OL pass blocked very well. We didn't even try running most of the game, due to NC state's stellar run D.
  • Szmyt and Sterling do it again. What a find Szmyt was. Will miss Dave Boller, who found him and brought him here.
  • That INT by Armstrong wasn't a gimme. It was an excellent catch.
  • When we had 3rd and 11 on that last drive, was I the only thinking -please don't run the ball. If we get stopped there and have to punt, they still would have had plenty of time to get a FG. Very happy with the aggressiveness and we earned that flag on 3rd and 11. The NC State DB knew he did it.
  • DL pass rush was mostly held in check, due to Finley's quick release, but those hits added up and led to that quick throw for the INT. Huge play by Alton.
  • Happy to see Cullen and Richards continue to get time. Will help us this year and next year

On at least one of the long completions, we were playing with only 1 deep safety, who bit on the run fake and committed to the direction (right) away from the NCSt WR. The SU CB probably assumed he had help over the top, which wasn't there. He would have no way to know that.

Did Pierce even have a catch? At one point in the middle part of the game there was a shot of him sitting on the bench talking with Dungey, and from his animated body language he seemed really pissed about something.
If my memory serves me correctly, it was right after a goal-line situation, and I wondered if he had been wide open in the endzone and Dungey didn't see him?
IMO we underutilize Pierce as a receiver.

Only thing I’ll add that maybe hasn’t been said - wasn’t surprised when TD came in. The offense went into a shell for most of the 2nd quarter and crazy as it sounds - Dungey still has a tendency to leave the pocket too soon. Sometimes even token pressure gives him happy feet. Fortunately it seemed like Eric got back on track after that one series where he came out.

Ironically enough, TD could have easily extended his one drive on 3rd and 4 by tucking and scrambling. The field was wide open.

Did you catch Dino's analogy in the presser. Your observation makes sense in that context.

Offense is a race car, it needs a race car driver, not a chaffeur"

That DL comment was key. They were better than the stats indicate.

I agree about Pierce. I'm surprised we don't utilize him more-He's an athletic TE with good hands. Hard for me to complain when we score 51, though.
