  • Was a tough loss, but one thing I'll say is if Nykeim holds onto that TD pass and Taj holds onto his pass that led to the pick 6, we could have gone into Halftime down only 13-7. That is even assuming we don't score on the pick 6 drive
  • Tough to see Dungey go down there. Happy that no matter what happens from here in, he had his moment in the sun on Senior Day. He deserved it
  • If you're looking for positives, look no further than our Running game. I would say that's the best it looked all year, even w/o the Dungey run threat
  • If you're looking for negatives, as good as our OL run blocked, that's how bad they pass blocked. Felt bad for Devito. They didn't given him a chance, particularly in the 2nd half
  • As states above, the drops killed us. At least 3 crucial ones. Hopefully, our WR's learn from this and particularly Harris bulks up
  • Thought our Run Defense was very good until the last few minutes of the game. Just looked like their Wr's were open most of the game until we tightened the coverage later in the game.ND killed us with pick plays on several 3rd and longs. Would like to see us scheme our receivers open more, instead of forcing so many unblocked screens
  • Misdirection continues to hurt our D
  • Think we have underutilized Pierce all year
  • Rough few days with SU basketball and football losing games, us losing our QB, and another USC loss. FWIW Babers continues to talk like he will be here for a while.
  • If we get Dungey back, with the way our run D has improved, feel we got a very good shot to knock off BC on the road. Just need to stop getting fooled on the misdirection, 'cause BC loves that stuff.
  • Don't let this one game get us down. It has and continues to be a great season!

Yeah poor Conway looked like he was using the let em go right bye me technique all night long. Martin got beat a few times but damn. Also run blocking did well but off guard and tackle did really well. The a gap runs kill me in beginning of 2nd half cause we ran well before and after that.

I know the ND DE was good, but still surprised how much Conway struggled. Martin has struggled with pass protection all year.

Also wanted to add, I had no problem with the SU FG at the end of the game. The same reason that ND didn't want us to do it (a shutout) is the same reason our players would want it. The game was out of reach for us to come back at that point, anyway.
If ND wants their shutout, earn it and keep us out of the red zone.

The O-line had by far its worst game of the season. It was a complete sieve the second half. I felt like I was watching the O-line from two years ago. We got abused.

I felt like I was watching the Bills.

I wonder how much of it was because once we fell behind 20-0, we were forced to pass in the 2nd half, so the Irish DL could just lay their ears back and come after the QB without having to respect the run (particularly with Dungey out).

They were putting 7 and 8 in the box and coming in the second half. Not sure why we didn't call a few screen passes to try to change the dynamic.

and Conway wasn't alone. Roberts at times got beat just as bad.
My son was referring to Conway and Roberts as turnstiles. They were literally taking turns getting beat badly. Plus Servais snaps were constantly low. DeVito was picking them off his shoe top at times and most were between his ankels and knees. Not good with all the pressure.
