  • I can't believe we won that game.
  • The first TD to JRS on 4th and 4 was obviously the play of the game. Angeli was struggling for awhile after taking some tough hits. Everything changed after that play, as Angeli really stepped it up after that.
  • We need to figure out how to pick up the blitz. I wonder if our Defense's ineffective blitzing have contributed to our offense's lack of preparation in Defending it
  • Thought mistakes and dropped passes from Uconn really helped us on D
  • Was okay for going for 7 on the 1st drive. Surprised we doubled down on it a drive or 2 later when we were struggling so much to get any push on the line.
  • I am shocked at how much we struggled to run the ball after we ran it fairly well against Tennessee
  • I hated the 3 man rush when we had them 4th and 10 at the end of regulation that allowed them enough time to pick up the first down and eventually kick the tying the FG
  • I am also surprised that we didn't double Bell much in that game, particularly on that last drive when you know they were going to him. Lessons not learned from last year's Stanford game.
  • Samuel showed a ton of growth in his second college game
  • Need to keep Reese on the edge rushing the passer. He was our only guy able to get consistent pressure, though Jobity did his Jobity well yesterday, making some big plays
  • Happy with Woody in the kicking game. Looks like he'll be serviceable.
  • Kick coverage was excellent. Just need to get our Special teams on the field quicker and not waste timeouts.
  • Our Wr's, particularly JRS, made some tough catches-Strong hands.
  • Villari looks like a different player this year
  • Thought we should have used a little clock when we had it first and goal at the end of regulation. I can understand just wanting to get the points while you're hot, though
  • Nice to see Deslauriers with the 2 fine plays at the end of the game
  • Let's hope we are healthy and can get some other guys some reps, particularly Collins.

Some really good points
I’ve also wondered if our defense not using delayed blitzes impacts the OL preparation.
The dropped passes by UConn did help the defense.
I suspect they will use Reece a lot more rushing the passer from the edge going forward.

I agree using clock at the end.

But then I also think tempo was helping us move the ball Uconn was getting confused. Much easier to go slow when you can run the balll

Agreed. I’m usually a proponent of using clock but with our struggles on offense during the game I was fine with striking while the iron was hot. Big 2 point play to keep the field goal spread

Thoughts after rewatching the condensed game, as I missed the first half due to family obligations

* I love condensed games.
* uconns players look as big as ours, the lineman seem bigger on average
* uconn is well coached, executes well & plays their hearts out
* uconn was hitting hard and flying into tackles, gang tackling too
* seems we had good opportunities in the first half, but kept stalling out due to bad play calls or poor execution
* really poor tackling on our end, 1st half
* 8 yards gained after initial contact, leading to 3rd & long conversions
* #8 comes flying in and gets juked by the punter (who our next player creams).
* I assume its a lack of effort &/or poor technique
* game was tight until UConn broke it open, with a really unacceptable run wide for a 45ish yard TD. Outside contain!!
* 2nd half, we came out w greater effort on D
* battle of will at this point
* angeli almost took us completely out of it a few times. Thank god for our D
* seems like the miraculous comeback boils down to rare poor technique from uconn on the Ross Simmons TD
* Deslauriers technique on both plays to end the game was exceptional. It was not luck. Really awesome play for a freshman

Hope our coaches can figure out the tackling issues & we get a better version of Angeli for 60 minutes

At this point, the tackling issues really can’t be coached. It’s on the players actually wanting to tackle.

It’s going to take more overhaul in defensive talent.

I think the angles taken are on the coaches to correct. Technique is on the coaches.

Effort, yes, is on the players.
