I still don't think he's 100% at this point. The last few games at the opening tip he has not even jumped (other than Sidibe he's the only guy with appropriate hops I guess). I imagine he is just trying to avoid any further damage on a play which really doesn't mean that much. He may not have the same leaping ability as earlier in the year (or even last year), but he is still battling and banging under the boards for rebounds and attempting put backs. He is doing his best in my opinion. We need his efforts.

I don't know about his health, but that 4th foul they called on him yesterday (straight up and down position block) was horrendous. As Sean McD said on the air, "that was a bad call!" Now, we were comfortably ahead, and Q fouling out was a moot point in the overall scope, but it likely won't be the case today. We need him in there and to be a factor.

Not to turn this into a reffing thread, but that out of bounds miss at game's end in the Miami vs. Clemson game where it kept the ball in Clemson's hands for shot to win it at the end was an atrocious missed call and simply can't happen. If Clemson ends up winning that game with that made shot...can only imagine if that happened to us, how folks around here (and rightfully so) would've gone bonkers!

I think its dead on, not jumping on the opening tip against Clemson pretty much told us he still has pain, I don't think I have ever seen that before.

Certainly not the case but I have often wondered why basketball coaches don't use the football strategy to defer to the second half. Concede the opening tip and, assuming there are no held ball calls, you have the possibility of having the last possession of the first half and first possession of the second giving you the opportunity to swing the score 6 points without the opponent touching the ball.

just get rid of the jump , have a coin flip and be done with it.. no one cares any more about a jump ball.

I've thought about this too. I suspect that given how many "held-ball" situations occur in a given game, the best way to maximize your possessions is to win the opening the tip.

Call me crazy, but I kind of like surrendering the jump ball. I think of it like deferring the kickoff in football. Would you rather have the ball for the first possession, or have the value of the possession arrow in your favor later in the game when it may have an impact.

I don't think its crazy, Ive just never seen it before.

Don't think it's just the bruised knee. I think his groin injury from last year has resurfaced. That pre-dates the knee.

I had never seen it before either, but the more I thought about it the more I kind of like it. Having the first possession is pretty meaningless, but having the possession arrow is either a free turnover if you're on defense or a free offensive rebound if you're on offense. Both are more valuable than starting with the ball. This is all probably due to quincy's health and wasn't thought of in this way, but it's actually a smart wrinkle to the game.

That was under a minute. Why couldn’t that be reviewed?

I am concerned about Q's knee, Kadary's knee and the side of Buddy's knee. Playing 2 days in a row is tough for anyone. Trying to play consecutive days hurt is really tough.

Hope they have a place to treat injured players in the special place that is Greensboro. The smell of honeysuckle and the feeling of wet grass between your toes might not be enough to get these players to 100%.

The problem is you don't know how many held balls there will be in a game. There were at least two in that game. Plus the half time change of possession.

If you win the tip you know that worst case scenario, you'll have the same amount of possessions as the other team, and best case scenario you'll have one extra possession. If you lose the tip you might get one fewer possession and the best you can do is break even.
