4. Syracuse — #HHH won a road game in Charlottesville on grass. Their defense and goaltending wasn't Memorial Day worthy. The Orange have firepower — guys who can absolutely rip corners if they're allowed to shoot with their feet set. They shoot 35% and goalies want no part of Tim Barber, Sergio Salcido, Derek DeJoe or Dylan Donahue. Against the Wahoos, they shot 14-of-31. All high heat, liquid smoke, turn and rake.

Quint also taking a shot at the SU defense in same article. There is some truth to what he's saying here...."The disparity between these (Maryland and Notre Dame) defenses and Syracuse and Virginia on Friday night is striking."

I think his criticism is fair. (#4 isn't much of an insult). So far there's a good distance between the top 2 and everybody else.

Agree but when Piroli comes back I think this team is very, very dangerous. He will open up things for Donahue, who right now is the main distributor. Piroli will b able to take over some of that duty from him and will allow Dylan to become more of a goal scoring threat like he was last year.

In his one game, Piroli also had good chemistry with Evans, and it puts Barbar back in position.
When do you think we might see Piroli? No reason to bring him out for St. John's if the extra time will help him.

Dont forget that Donahue scored 5 goals with Piroli out there too, I know it was Siena but still. Yeah I don't think you'll see him against the Johnnies, but maybe makes his return when they travel to Homewood or Duke? Not sure how close he is to being ready?

great defenses or slow down teams who don't play much offense? We'll see how good the ND defense is when it plays and offensive team.

Syracuse averaging 14.25 gpg against Siena, Albany, Army and Virginia (giving up 8.25 gpg)

ND averaging 11.25 gpg against GTown, Bellarmine, Detroit and Maryland (giving up 5.5 gpg)

Maryland is 2-3 surrendering 9 gpg against High Point, Yale and ND. (scoring 8)

Maryland is strikingly good defense ? please.

Quints a db

Johns Hopkins is the game to circle, if he's not back by that game I wonder if he's coming back at all, for a week to week injury he's been out almost a month. Preferably you would like to see him back this Saturday to work some of the rust off and be ready for JHU. Hopefully we hear some positive news this week.
