1. Syracuse — Down 10-5, the Orange rallied behind Ben Wiiliams face-off wins and Stephen Rehfuss. The redshirt freshman was the dodging threat to answer the Heels double-poling of Sergio Salcido and Nick Mariano. I would have shorted Jordan Evans. Syracuse’s run of one-goal wins is unprecedented. Coach John Desko and his veteran staff deserve tons of credit for the improvement this group has shown. They are a hard-working bunch that has been emboldened by seven razor-thin wins. Coach called a great timeout with 1:38 to go and applied the pressure with an endline double-team. The pinch-double dislodged the ball, and Joe Gillis dove towards it preventing a UNC scoop. It squirted free; after he grabbed it with his hand and tossed it towards the top of the box to Paolo Ciferri who scooped and carried it over the midfield line for a stone-cold 4-on-3 break. Carolina's point man held, and Ciferri made them pay tying the game up. Sergio Salcido (3G and the GWG) continues to amaze with his trajectory from redshirt freshman/no points to potential midfielder of the year in 2017. His first appearances at SU were as a wing-man on face-offs and as a defensive midfielder. This young man deserves all sorts of credit for refining his game and becoming one of the most feared dodger/passers in the nation. Self-made Sergio stuck the game-winner from the right wing on the extra man. Otto hosts Binghamton on Saturday. They will be the top seed in the ACC Tournament on April 28 and 30 in Durham (ESPNU). Quint's Top 20: Spring Weather, Face-Offs and Post-Easter Crunch Time
