Poor guy actually played a very good game today, but because of the beat down gets no credit. For as hard as everyone has been on him I think he deserves at least some credit for his performance today. Not to mention the 1 time we fed the post, he made a nice move, and gave us the easiest 2 of the game. hopefully this is a performance he can build on going into tournament play.

It really feels as though the team receives no instruction.

Very average div 1 basketball teams can " get the ball inside".

We can't

Whats the issue? Do they watch film? Do they study competitors?

I guess teams packing the zone in and daring us to shoot doesn't help

I don't think that it's a stretch to call Rak's 1st half the best of his career, especially considering the competition. He drew 2 offensive fouls battling for position on D, had a nice post-up turnaround bank shot & another putback off an offensive rebound, had 2 nice blocks, especially the 1 getting back in transition, & a couple "man" defensive rebounds. I think that he's been much more aggressive on offense these last 2 games, as even his running hook attempt vs Depaul & his 2nd half "happy feet" travel are positive signs. He's making an attempt to assert himself, which is a welcomed sign.

He's capable.

Absurd that this allegedly offensively inept team isn't giving the kid 15 touches a night.

Let's not feed the post because rak has no moves even though we don't pass him the ball, and, just because, he doesn't have that FIRE. Let's just jack contested jumpers off pointless picks up top from our guards who shoot under 30% from 3.

-our mindset the last few months

Ha. No kidding. Lets not get crazy as well with this thread re: Rak. He played good for RAK but it wasn't some earth shattering performance, lol. I wanted Boeheim to keep him in there when he got 2 fouls. Ayegba was out and it was just Lubick at the 5. Sad we couldn't exploit that. Very sad.

wasn't raxmas supposed to transition over to power forward this year? how'd that go?

He played decent ball, better than he has, that's for sure. He still leaves a lot to be desired and frustrates us all. Why can't he be an 8 and 8 guy at the very least? With his size and athleticism, he shouldn't be so invisible. Hopefully, he can build off this solid performance and give us something in the postseason and next year.

That hasn't really been the mindset at all. But it is pointless to "feed the post" to a guy who can't do anything once the entry pass goes in.

Rak has potential. He's shown the ability to knock down mid range shots, and seems to have a good sense of timing on alley oops. But to just think that we can pound the ball into a guy who hasn't shown the capability to score with his back to the basket is a bad idea. Suggesting otherwise is hyperbole at this stage of Rak's offensive developmental curve.

:noidea:

We don't have to pound the ball in. A pass here and there. That's it.

Then have Rak move without the ball and get open. Have him pick and roll instead of just setting a pick three feet outside of the three point arc and then drifting around and watching other players dribble. Have him actually finish alley oop passes instead of missing dunks. Have him consistently show that he can finish inside like yesterday in the first half, instead of making the poor decision to try to create off of the bounce that led to a traveling penalty in the second half.

And is it too much to ask for a low post move or two? A kid with Rak's physique ought to be dunking on Alonzo Mourning, not struggling to finish the most basic plays inside.

Or..we can try to wait for Brandon and James to take off their construction hats and stop throwing up bricks.

If there is one thing I am critical about boeheim with it's his continued insistence upon pick and rolls up top with the wrong personnel.
