Class of 2022  Ramel Lloyd Jr. (CA/AZ)

Seems like a talented kid. Could probably play either the 1 or the 2. Would have great size at the top of the zone. Why anyone would bring up redshirting to a recruit, especially a talented sophomore in high school, blows my mind.

These Cuse Hoops fan pages on instagram do the program zero favors

Exactly what a top 60 kid looking for exposure wants to hear. Come to the school your dad transferred from and redshirt!

SU looks stacked for guard options in 2022. Dior Johnson is committed. Westry seems very interested. Zion Cruz seems to like us. Roddy Gayle's an upstate kid who's visited and appears friendly with Johnson. Starling is a local kid following us. Now we're involved with Lloyd whose father played here and apparently still loves SU. Jaden Bradley was in SU's backyard. Girard and Richmond will still be around (although Kedary could play SF). Not everyone will fit or choose to come here but our chances of having a loaded backcourt are exciting.

The staff needs to generate similar prospects with frontcourt players. Benny Williams is interested but no lock. Talk is that Etienne is a long shot and there's much work to do with Clingan. Maybe Lloyd Jr. could play forward but his recent comments don't show much interest in that. By then, current guys like Guerrier, Edwards, and Ajak could be high-level ACC performers. But it would be nice to have a little more to think about from the '21 & '22 classes.

I’m always dumbfounded with the constant talk of redshirting. These kids plan is to get to the League as fast as possible. They all think higher of themselves than they should. A redshirt is insulting, unless someone has a medical condition.

I do remember there were rumors that he wasn't as hard a worker as the staff would have liked.

When he was on the floor, you knew it though. The guy was a dynamic scorer.
I feel like Michael Lloyd was much more than rock

First of all, I LOVED Syracuse University and still do till this day. Many things contributed to me transferring. Some my fault and some others. Thanks for the love about my son though! He is the REAL DEAL!
You were my favorite from that class, but then it became Etan Thomas after you left. Was disappointed when you and Howard left and Walton never made it...what could have been???? That team would have beaten MSU for sure in 2000 and probably would have won the national championship.

Mike was nice!
Michael Lloyd looked like he was great without working hard or trying. But, none of you guys could get to that level without working your asses off. Some people just have a way of making difficult things look easy.

How were you not a McDonald's All American in 1996?

Rock Lloyd did make the 1996 Parade All-American Team. It was a big deal back then. Parade stopped basketball AA selections in 2015, but it was around 20 years before the McDonald's AA team started.

I agree with Rock about politics for the Mickey D's team. In '96, Nate James made it there but did not make the Parade list at all. Guess where he went...Duke. Vassil Evtimov also made it, but was 4th team Parade AA behind Rock. Guess where he went...UNC. There was a lot of talent on that team (including Kobe Bryant & Jermaine O'Neal who went straight to the NBA), but Rock was definitely better than a few guys.

Rock, Sr. was like a bull charging to the hoop! Look out, Marathon Oil. We had Sweet 16 teams in 1998 and 2000 where we could have used another scorer like him and maybe gone to the next level. Ramel Junior seems like a more versatile, well-rounded player -- better handle and shooter. In college, Dad was career 60% from the free throw line (47.6% at SU). Dang!

Following this guard class will be SUPER interesting; it’s pretty much a lock that freshman Dior and a senior JG3 will get a lot of minutes. So if we get another elite guard, are they ok with not a lot of PT year 1? Or could someone like Westry/Lloyd play the bottom of the zone?(I don’t think Cruz or Starling could)

then like you said, Kadary will be a junior.

so will whoever comes here be ok with a small role year 1, but with JG3 graduating and Dior to the NBA, the team will be theirs as a sophomore. But if they came to play with Dior, him leaving defeats the purpose.

regardless, with all the guards were involved with, I we can only take 1 - most of these guys are top 60 so no way they’d come here to be a 4th guard. What we need is some of these kids to get to 6’6 or 6’7 so they can play in the back of the zone

He will be for 1 year with the NCAA changes coming. He'll cash in for a year at cuse.
A report today said casino endorsements would be off limits. Such BS, and the NCAA would lose, again.

with all the other wings syracuse is currently involved with, is ramel even a thing anymore? seems pretty far down the pecking order after big fish like jarace, chance, roddy, etc
