Little bored...watching the JB HOF speech, and there's a part where he jokes with Calhoun about battling for a recruit. Calhoun was apparently visiting him on a Monday, and Boeheim says he's going on a Sunday to get to the kid first. Then, during Calhoun's speech...he says "Well Jim you don't have to worry about that recruit, he just committed to us."

I totally forgot about this exchange...does anyone know if it was ever determined who that recruit was? Just curious.

I can't recall any recruiting battle with UConn in that period that JB won . . . maybe Josh Wright, as both schools were recruiting him, AJ Price and Kyle Lowry at the same time. Wright committed to SU first, but I think we all agree that we drew the short straw that time.

Maybe Konecny? Or, most likely, it was just JB ribbing JC.

Sorry, should have made it more clear...Calhoun was the one who said that part about the player committing. So maybe it was AJ Price?

Price, Marcus Johnson . . . but the big one was Rudy Gay, who Calhoun snagged after paying his AAU coach $20K to play an "exhibition game" vs. the Huskies.

Here is the list of kids who committed to UConn in the fall of 2005. Were really going after any of them? http://rivals.yahoo.com/connecticut/basketball/recruiting/commitments/2006/Connecticut-202

I think we went after Curtis Kelley pretty hard, I know we offered him a scholarship.

donyell marshall and rudy gay are the two recruiting biggies who come to my mind
