I think it is the sporting news pre season mag that ranks the units of every team in the conference. I know we aren't experts on all of the teams of the league. But take a shot
where do our units rank?
QB
OL
WR
RB
TE
DL
LB
DB
K
P

QB-middle of the ACC since Devito isn’t totally proven yet
RB-top 5 in the ACC
WR-top 5 in the ACC
TE-probably bottom 3 of ACC (we don’t really use this position)
OL-middle of the ACC until proven
DL-top 3 in ACC with potential to be the best depending on what we get from our tackles
LB-bottom half of the ACC until proven
DB-top 3 in ACC with potential to be the best
ST-Tops in the ACC

hard to argue with most of this.

I think WR is closer to top half until proven. DB closer to top half than top 3, still a lot of young guys back there.

In your opinion, what's your strongest overall unit?

Other than Trevor Lawrence, there's no returning QB in the ACC better than Tommy.

If we get even average play from the DTs, the DL is the best in the ACC, as we have the best pair of DEs in the country.

Love this thread dasher.

Qb: 4 - I have Sunshine, Perkins (he’s returning correct) and i’ll take flack for this but Anthont Brown ahead of TD as of right now. Was very impressed with Brown if he can stay healthy. Believe TD has the ability to break into the top 3 but has to show it.

OL: 3-6, admittedly I don’t know much about returning OL’s. I’m assuming BC and Clemson will each be very solid. We return multiple big time vets though.

RB: 2nd behind Clemson. Depth.

WR: 1

TE: last, not an insult just lack of depth and experience

DL: 2nd behind clemson

LB: 10th, again lack of experience and i’ll say 8th if shy’s back.

DB: 1

Special teams: 1

Our talent depth at WR is incredible.

I wouldnt rank our RBs above AJ Dillion and no way our WR core is better than Clemson's.

QB - 5-7 to start, with potential to be in the top 3
OL - 5-7 to start, with potential to be top 5 if they get a quality grad transfer
WR - 3-5
RB - 3-5
TE - who knows
DL - top 5
LB - 10-12
DB - 5-7 to start
K - 1
P - 1

I’d be fine with it. Dillon got worn down towards the end of the year and it seemed like BC suffered a lot through in conference attrition. I don’t believe we have an rb near Dillon’s ability, but we have 2 good rb’s in Moe and Howard plus a potential stud in Adams. I take depth and versatility over Dillon whos rab into the ground

I think Dillion's back ups are young guys too. That's a pretty good stable of backs when healthy. Realistically they will be ranked 1 or 2 in the ACC going into the season.

Did he get worn down? I thought he was playing with an injury. I look at those differently.

You should probably put “with potential to be #1” next to our DBs, our secondary is loaded.

That’s fair. I treat them the same when he’s going on his third season expecting 220+ carries.

yeah but its the same exact crew of guys that get torched regularly. the only difference is cisco and trill will be sophmores instead of freshmen. Is that loaded relative to the rest of the ACC? time will tell...

I can see that if he was an old NFL veteran or had a history of injuries. So far he had one season where he was durable with elite productivity and a second where he was injured. It's probably too early in his career to know which is the norm. Dwight Freeney didn't make it through a full season healthy until his senior year.

Cisco, Trill, Meli, all with another year. Cam Jonas who I think will be an absolute stud is coming off of a redshirt season and could see the field some this year, Chris Fredrick comes back for his 5th year. And on top of that we’re adding a 4 star safety in Cornelius Nunn, this isn’t the basketball team, these boys are gonna progress and get better;);) so I think that absolutely translates to potentially being the best group in the ACC

I hope you’re right.

Dillon was injured. I spoke with people in the BC program, at great length, last week. The back up was more effective, but they played Dillon in an attempt to raise the teams profile. Dumb. Not my words, but a guy affiliated with the program. It cost them wins.

Also. They have a TE replacing Sweeney. 6'5, 255. Runs a 4.5 forty(laser), and a 4.1 shuttle. I've watched the kid rep. Hands like super glue. I might mean Crazy glue. He's the real deal. We passed on him, because of character(good call, at the time). Good kid, that had some growing up to do. No doubt on the athleticism. Extreme violence on the line of scrimmage is the only way to stop him. (staff will have all this info, and then some, if he emerges)

My greater point, is that y'all have no idea what other teams are bringing in. We finally have a stable to be proud of, and we should be. Everyone has a stable. Even BC can hit lightning on a reload(kid I mentioned), and they grabbed a 4 star LB this week. It's GREAT that we're back to competing. Don't ever underestimate the competition. EVER..

I won't put Dillon, or any BC RB ahead of ours this season. My reasoning is simple, they'll use whatever RB they have as a battering ram 35 X's per until they're bent & broken. Inevitably, their season will head South by week 8 or 9 as the mileage wears.

Yes, their rushing stats will be gaudy, but throwing the ball will be mediocre at best.

Our backfield is deep, it's talented, it's experienced and it's diverse. I'll take our stable to AJ Dillon and his backup in a NY minute.

I like our diverse backfield as a whole but Dillon individually is NFL back

This is where I’m slightly worried. Anthony Brown, when healthy, is legit.
