MaxPreps #1 running back for Virginia 5A, #7 overall in VA. There is up to 6A in VA.

Got talking HS football and recruits after the state championships, he was brought up to me since I'm all SU. They shared this background and I looked him up: Warrick's grandfather is an SU alum, his dad played D1 football in the Ivy League, and the family has upstate NY roots. He had a breakout senior season, but was also the leading team rusher by a good margin as a junior, with multiple senior RBs sharing team carries.

2024 Stats:
1,282 Yds Rushing, 128 Yds/G, 7.2 Yds per Carry;
1,424 Total All Purp Yds, 142 Yds/G 12.9 Yds per catch;
19 TD, Which by my numbers is 58% of team scoring for the season.

I watched the film, he's a bit shorter than some backs but he looks very solid for that height. Speedy, elusive, maintains leg churn, and makes extended gains after contact. He seemed to get positive yardage even on plays where there were missed blocks. Catches well out of the backfield with quick acceleration after catch. Might have the hands to be considered an APB and motion out to slot receiver, but that would need more eval.

Looking at current commits. Current SU RB Signee Malachi Coleman is a speedster that also plays in VA at Fleming. These two could compliment each other well, and push each other. Might be a good late add to look at, and show interest in.

If we can call him Warwick, I'm in.

Thanks Bill. It looks like part of his stats from 2023 are listed under Butter Stephenson and part are listed under Warrick Stephenson. He has 8 more games of stats in there. Maybe thats why he didn't get as much attention as a Junior despite the yards per touch numbers.

I'll check in with a few people to see if I can get more info on him.

Went back in and added the yardage from 8 games listed under Warrick, to the 2 games listed under Butter for 2023 and the 10 listed under Butter from 2024.
Jr+Sr totals:
2168 Yds Rushing,
350 Yds Recieving,
2518 Tot AP Yds,
297 Tot AP Touches,
8.5 Yds/Touch,
34 touchdowns (31 Rush, 3 Recieving),
1 TD per 8.7 Touch,

RB is one position where being short isn't really a detriment. Good luck as a defender trying to find a 5'7 RB behind an oline of 6'6+ monsters.

Ant Bailey 2.0 would be fine by me, Darren Sproles 2.0 would probably win a Heisman under Fran.

But he didnt play at warwick
Yeah I'll go with smooth as Butter.

Warwick HS has been playing some really good ball the last few years though, so Fog has that going for him...which is nice. Warwick just ran into Maury early in the playoffs two years in a row, rough draw.

Bummer Butter on the football side and Dry Rub on the hoops side won't overlap.

Or maybe we're lucky because this maximizes flavor over a longer period of time.

Greater minds than I shall decide, I suppose.

Went out on a great football day. Got an update.
Butter is squatting almost 2.5x of his body weight, and his older brother grew 2 inches during college.

VA Big River Rivalry All Star game 12/21/24:
Butter playing for the North Finished with 10 total touches for 79 yards and a touchdown.
TD was the first offensive play of OT for the north to pull within 1.
North then attempted a 2pt conversion to win QB keeper was stopped. Ball was faked to Butter on the final play. Looked like Butter might have scored easily but I never judge a fake because ball recognition can change the results.
20-19 South won in OT
