I also don't blame a player for doing what he wants. However, when a guy that I expected to be a big contributor leaves us for a conference rival, I will root against him as hard as I rooted against Mourning or Iverson in basketball and Warren Sapp or Pat White in football. Every player does what they think is best for them. I didn't cheer on Aaron Donald when he sacked our QB or Larry Fitzgerald when scored a touchdown against us.

I suppose different people react differently to different events. John Thompson declaring Manley Fieldhouse officially closed jump started a whole rivalry, so clearly off the court/field events tend to have an impact on how fans think/feel. In light of something like that, it's completely understandable for people to have a bad taste in their mouth when an exciting player leaves for a conference rival.
