As a Virginia High School coach of a fall sport (not football) it isn't actually confirmed that fall sports is cancelled. The vote is set for 7/27.

Just absurdly likely to be. If/when it does come to pass, I think lots of top kids in all of fall sports are going to have to choose between their club/AAU teams and high school teams. the HS teams are going to lose lots of top talent for the season if I had to guess.

Wow, that would really hurt the late bloomers who step up big their senior seasons. Might be even worse for juniors. That junior season is so important to get the eyes of college recruiters. No summer camp and no fall ball = almost no chance to impress college coaches and get offers.

That's not going to happen and if it does it's completely asinine. I know teams who's core group of best football players play lacrosse. When you start making kids choose between football and lacrosse they're going to overwhelmingly play lacrosse which is slated to start on April 5th in this model.

Season II would also include field hockey and soccer so there's other issues at play with this model like field space, field conditions and daylight. All being discussed.

The junior lacrosse players are struggling with this very thing right now.

In my own district the starting QB, HB, WR and TE are the 4 best lacrosse players, and all 4 will likely play lacrosse in college so they'd choose lacrosse. And the backup QB is likely a college baseball player so there'd almost be no point in fielding the football team. (I forget that baseball will also start April 5, btw lacrosse and baseball football would be fkd).

As we know NYS football is low priority and costs a lot of money. I wonder if High Schools just don't pull the plug on funding/playing football at this point. Good excuse to just drop the sport all together.
