so many rbs making plays today.. why cant we find some to do this stuff. breaking tackles, making guys miss, running away from pursuit.

You would think that RB would be the easiest position to find the occasional diamond in the rough. Late bloomer. Natural athlete who was late to football, or playing out of position.

there are hundreds of RBs in the country and we struggley every year to find one who can make people miss, let alone run away from people . It really defies logic how we have gone so long without a playmaker at that position,.

It's because we haven't really had coherent offensive systems.

And our inability to cobble together a mediocre offensive line. No one in there right mind wants to run behind the lines we’ve had lately.

The size and speed of all the players in yesterday games was such a Stark contrast to where we are currently

Yep. I don't really know what Shafer was looking for at the position, but it's tough to knock him. Fredericks was kind of the combination of all the things you want from a back, except Dino didn't like him (I don't know the reasons and don't want to start an argument here by speculating) and now he's gone. Guys like Phillips, Strickland and Neal were fine to play the wing in that bizarre Lester offense, but were really too small to all be feature backs (still have hopes for Neal with another year of strength and conditioning, he has good balance and speed, vision improved throughout the year).

I think Dino really wants a one cut and go kind of back, but the big backs that can really move and are natural runners tend to play for more established programs. With the weakness in the interior o-line, this team really needed a delone carter type. Someone who always breaks contact and gets positive yards, but will never go for 50, 60 yards. The o-line should take a step up next year though, but i think its still two years away from becoming a good unit.

What's scary is, every year for the next three years, we play Dillon (absolute beast), Akers (total package), and Etienne (most explosive kid outside of Lamar Jackson). Someone said Wake's entire line is back, and they were really clicking at the end of the year. Hymes is back at NC State and he was all-league. Even if we improve, we still will likely have a worse running game than almost all of our opponents in 2018.

it is scary to watch the plays that are getting saved by RBs and we dont get those.. we break a few tackles, but we cant get to the corner and we dont make people miss and we certainly dont run away from guys. A better oline solves part of the equation but some times guys just have to make plays. Dungey made more in the Miami game than our RBs made all year combined in just saving plays.

i didnt watch the whole game, but it did seem that Clemsons running game consisted of more than dive-left, dive right...

Who is our last RB to get a carry in an NFL game? Carter? It’s been awhile.

We run up the middle with a young inexperienced line vs top ten draft pick d linemen. We faced several units this year with multiple first second round d line talent
